The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams that they now have until November 26 to submit the list of players they want to keep.
The auction for IPL 2024 will be on December 19 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, as reported by Sportstar last week. Each of the 10 teams now has a budget of Rs 100 crore, which is Rs 5 crore more than last year. This budget will be used for the 2024 season. Additionally, on December 9, at the same location, there will be the Women’s Premier League auction. Before November 26, all teams need to decide which players they want to retain and release.
Originally, the BCCI intended to reveal the list of players who will stay with their teams on November 19. However, it seems they’ve decided to postpone it by a week, possibly because of the World Cup semifinal taking place around the same time.
This is the third and last year of the three-year contract for each player, and a big auction is anticipated for next year.
This marks the first IPL auction to be held outside India. The BCCI had also thought about using Istanbul, Turkey as the location for last year’s auction but eventually chose a different option.
