The esteemed political figure, Raman Singh, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, was elected as the Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. Raman Singh’s journey in politics commenced with remarkable vigor and dedication. Born in a modest family, Raman’s rise through the political ranks has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. Serving as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh for a substantial period, his tenure was marked by transformative policies, economic development, and an unwavering commitment to public welfare.
Earlier Ramvichar Netam, the senior BJP MLA was the pro-term speaker. In the absence of regular speakers, the pro-time speakers will be appointed. In attendance at the event were Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Charan Das Mahant, leader of the Congress legislature party and outgoing Speaker in the Chhattisgarh assembly, along with former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Three additional proposals, all from BJP members, further solidified the support for Mr. Singh. The seven-term MLA, who has consistently secured the Rajnandgaon seat since 2008, demonstrated his political prowess by winning in 2008, 2013, 2018, and most recently in 2023. Raman Singh also worked in national politics. In 1999, he was a member of the Lok Sabha. Later, he was chosen to be the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. As the state progresses, everyone will be watching the experienced politician to guide the legislative assembly towards making things better and united.
