CSK Shares Video: MS Dhoni arrived in Chennai for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) preparatory camp before the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The defending champions welcomed their legendary captain with a spectacular video on social media. The welcome video was inspired by the style of Thalapathy Vijay’s movie ‘Leo’.
With only 17 days left until the IPL begins, MS Dhoni joined the CSK squad and support staff. He had led them to their fifth IPL title last season, where they won against Gujarat Titans in a thrilling final by five wickets.
When Dhoni arrived in Chennai, the CSK mascot greeted him at the team hotel. It seemed like the team was also embracing the idea of Dhoni’s “new role,” as the mascot appeared in a different style.
The CSK franchise shared a video of ‘Thala’ Dhoni’s arrival at the team hotel on social media. The video was inspired by the movie Leo, which came out in October 2023 and is the 16th highest-grossing Indian film ever.

Led by Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings will start their IPL title defense at home against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Players are beginning to join the preparatory camp in Chepauk, with more expected to come once they finish their international and T20 league commitments. However, the team will be missing Devon Conway for a while after he had surgery to treat a fractured thumb.
On Monday, MS Dhoni hinted at a “new role” and shared his excitement on Facebook. He said, “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’ Stay tuned.”
It’s still not clear what MS Dhoni meant by his “new role” comment. It might be related to a promotional campaign by the broadcaster, Star Sports. They posted on X, “The helicopter has landed in Chennai, New Role loading. Countdown to March 22 starts now… stay tuned to Star Sports for more.”
