Namakkal, May 21, 2025 – DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth has accused the ruling DMK of politicizing the NEET examination issue for electoral benefit. Speaking at a public event in Namakkal, she urged students and parents not to fall for what she called “false promises” by the DMK.
“The DMK knows it cannot scrap NEET, yet they continue to use it as a political tool,” Premalatha said. “Despite collecting crores of signatures, the exam cannot be removed through state-level measures.”
She alleged that the DMK was exploiting students’ emotions and misleading the public for political mileage. “This is not about education anymore, this is about politics,” she added.
Her comments come amid renewed debates over NEET in Tamil Nadu, with the state government continuing its efforts to push for its abolition while critics question the feasibility of such a move under central education policy.
