There are various methods available for downloading your Aadhaar card, with the most widely used option being through the official website www.uidai.gov.in and this platform enables you to acquire your e-Aadhaar using your 12-digit Aadhaar number.

In today’s digital world, it’s very convenient to have all your important documents accessible online. And one document you definitely want at your fingertips is your Aadhaar card. It’s like your golden ticket to many important things in India.

Get an Aadhaar using various methods

The most common method to download an Aadhaar card is using the official website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in by entering an Aadhaar number.

1. Aadhaar Card download using Aadhaar Number

• Visit the Official UIDAI website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number along with other required details.
• After getting an OTP (One-Time Password) on your registered mobile number, type the OTP to verify your identity.
• After verification, you can download a PDF copy of your Aadhaar card. This PDF is password-protected and requires your PIN code as the password.

2. Aadhaar download using Enrollment ID (EID)

To download your Aadhaar card using your Enrollment ID, follow these steps :

• Visit the official UIDAI website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Choose the EID option instead of the Aadhaar number.
• Enter your 14-digit Enrollment ID and the security code displayed on the screen.
• Request an OTP (One Time Password) that will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Enter the OTP received on your mobile for verification.
• After verification, you can download your Aadhaar card in PDF format.

3. Download Aadhaar using Virtual ID (VID)

• Visit the official UIDAI website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Choose the VID option instead of the Aadhaar number.
• Enter your 16-digit VID and the security code displayed on the screen.
• Request an OTP (One Time Password), which will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Enter the OTP for verification.
• After successful verification, you can download your Aadhaar card in PDF format.

4. Get an Aadhaar Number / EID using your Name and Mobile Number

• Go to the official Aadhaar retrieval page www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/retrieve-eid-uid
• Enter your full name, along with either your registered email ID or mobile number and the security code.
• Click the “Send OTP” button.
• Enter the OTP you receive on your registered mobile number and click the “Verify OTP” button.
• You’ll receive a message confirming that your Aadhaar number or enrolment ID has been sent to your registered mobile number.
• Once you receive your Aadhaar enrollment number or Aadhaar number on your mobile, visit the e-Aadhaar page on the official UIDAI website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Enter your 28-digit enrolment ID or 12-digit Aadhaar number, provide the security code, and click on “Send OTP”.
• Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click “Verify And Download” to download your Aadhaar card online.

5. Download an Aadhaar Card using the mAadhaar App

• Install the mAadhaar app on your smartphone (available on Android and iOS).
• Open the app and create a profile by adding your Aadhaar details.
• You can either scan the QR code on your physical Aadhaar card or enter your Aadhaar number manually.
• Once you verify your identity with an OTP, you can download your e-Aadhaar card on the app.

6. Aadhaar Card download using DigiLocker Account

To download your Aadhaar using a DigiLocker account, follow these steps.

• Visit the official UIDAI website www.uidai.gov.in
• Click on the “Download Aadhaar” option.
• Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or 16-digit VID (Virtual ID) and the security code displayed on the screen.
• Request an OTP (One Time Password) that will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Once you receive the OTP, enter it for verification.
• After successful verification, you will see an option to download your e-Aadhaar PDF.
• Click on the “Download” button. The PDF will be downloaded.
• To open the PDF, you’ll need a password. The password is the first four letters of your name in CAPS followed by your birth year.
• Now, go to your DigiLocker account www.digilocker.gov.in, and log in. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up for one.
• Inside your DigiLocker account, click on “Uploaded Documents”.
• Select “Upload Document” and choose the downloaded e-Aadhaar PDF from your device.
• Once uploaded, your Aadhaar card will be securely stored in your DigiLocker account.

7. Download Aadhaar via SMS

• Send an SMS from your registered mobile number to 1947 in the format “GETOTP <space> Aadhaar number” (e.g., GETOTP 123456789012).
• After receiving an OTP, reply to the same number with “UIDAI OTP” (e.g., UIDAI 123456).
• You will receive a link to download your Aadhaar card on your registered mobile number.

8. Download Masked Aadhaar Card

• Visit the official UIDAI website www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
• Click on “Login”.
• Enter your Aadhaar number, Captcha, and click “Send OTP”.
• Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click “Login”.
• Choose “Download Aadhaar”.
• Select “Masked Aadhaar” if you prefer.
• Click “Download”.
• Open the downloaded PDF and enter the password as the first four letters of your name in CAPITAL letters, followed by your birth year in YYYY format.

Note: Remember that to download your Aadhaar card, you must have your Aadhaar number or VID and access to the registered mobile number for OTP authentication. Additionally, ensure that your Aadhaar details are up to date and correctly linked to your mobile number for smooth access.
