Faf du Plessis: RCB captain Faf du Plessis was not happy with the team’s bowling performance against MI. RCB lost by seven wickets on Thursday.
Du Plessis spoke honestly about the team’s issues, pointing out the weakness in the bowling after RCB’s loss to Mumbai Indians. This was their fifth loss in six IPL 2024 matches. Du Plessis mentioned concerns about the team’s struggles, especially not getting early wickets in the powerplay overs.
Du Plessis said that the team needs to aim for a high batting score, around 200 runs. He explained that RCB’s bowling is not strong, so the batting needs to make up for it.
All RCB bowlers gave away more than 10 runs per over in the game against MI. MI chased the 197-run target easily, winning with 27 balls left and losing only three wickets.
Du Plessis was also unhappy with RCB’s batting performance, saying the team didn’t score enough runs in the second half of the game.
He said they needed to aim for 215-220 runs, as 190 wasn’t enough. He mentioned that some venues are challenging because of dew, which made playing harder and affected the outcome of the match.
Faf du Plessis Praised Jasprit Bumrah’s Performance
Bumrah dominated the RCB batting order, taking five wickets, including Virat Kohli’s important dismissal. His final figures were 5/21 in the game.
Du Plessis spoke about Bumrah’s amazing skills for MI, saying the bowler could win matches. He compared Bumrah’s talents to the legendary Lasith Malinga. Faf du Plessis noted that Bumrah was the key difference in both innings.
Du Plessis said you want to challenge Bumrah, but his variety of bowling styles is tough for batters. He mentioned Bumrah’s good bouncers and slower balls, which make him excel in pressure situations.
MI’s winning captain, Hardik Pandya, also praised Bumrah for his consistent excellence and key role in the team’s success. Pandya expressed his gratitude for having Bumrah on his team. He noted how Bumrah consistently takes wickets whenever asked, showing his commitment and experience.
