Due to heavy snowfall in Delhi in the morning, there has been difficulty in taking off and landing flights at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport. Today, 30 flights delayed. According to data from the Delhi Airport Flight Information Display System, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport is facing delays for around 30 flights in both arrivals and departures.
Due to heavy snowfall, 8 flights scheduled to land at Delhi airport between 6 am and 9 am yesterday were diverted. 7 flights were diverted to Jaipur and one flight to Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has said that there will be heavy snowfall in Delhi till the 28th and snowfall till the 30th. Due to this, the minimum temperature will drop by a few points, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The Delhi airport issued a warning for passengers, stating that although landings and takeoffs are ongoing, flights without CAT III compatibility may face disruptions.
The CAT III instrument helps in landing during low visibility caused by fog. It mentioned, “While landing and takeoffs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III complaint may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”
On Monday (December 25), eight flights were redirected from Delhi airport, with seven going to Jaipur and one to Ahmedabad. Officials mentioned that the diversions occurred between 6 am and 9 am.
Not only Delhi, but some parts of Punjab, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha are also experiencing heavy snowfall, according to the India Meteorological Department. The Indian Meteorological Department also said that West Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Tripura will experience moderate snowfall.
