The Agartala police team caught a group with narcotics at the railway station, which sheds light on a potentially organized ganja smuggling network. The operation has planned on Thursday night as the suspects aimed to board the Tripura Sundari Express, a vital link between Agartala and New Delhi.
52 Kg of Narcotics Substance
The police team executed a plan and increased their search. Sanjith Sen who is in charge of GRP Agartala police station said that “the 52kgs of ganjas are found in their bags. Also, he said that all the persons involved were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further investigations have been going on to find more details in this case.”
Links with Bihar
The persons caught in this case accepted that there were links between them which is Agartala and the Bihar gang. The group came from Tripura Sundari Express and intended to go back home. Sanjith Sen thinks that there may be an organized gang in the ganja smuggling. The police’s next move is gonna be seizing their mobiles to obtain the data to find the smugglers’ network. The police crew feels like there may be a large network behind the smuggling gang after arresting a person who dressed in Assam Rifles uniform the day before with 21 kg of ganja at the Agartala Railway Station and was ready to go in Kanchanjunga Express to Kolkata.
The recurring arrests highlight the urgency for enhanced security measures within the railway system, particularly on routes connecting Agartala to other major cities. The police are actively collaborating with railway authorities to find the network of ganja smuggling.
