“Ghilli” was inspired by a successful Telugu movie starring Mahesh Babu. Alongside Vijay and Trisha Krishnan, the film also features actors like Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, and others in important roles. The music for the film was composed by Vidyasagar.
Despite being made on a modest budget of ₹8 crore, “Ghilli” managed to earn a whopping ₹50 crore at the box office. It’s worth noting that “Ghilli” is a remake of Mahesh Babu’s hit Telugu film “Okkadu.”
The film’s director, Dharani, decided to release it on April 20, the day after the Lok Sabha polls in the state. This decision was likely made to avoid any potential disruption due to the elections and ensure a smooth release for the movie.
Vijay is set to showcase his talent in a double role in Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming movie “The Greatest of All Time” (GOAT). This action-packed film also marks Vijay’s reunion with music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja after 20 years.
Yuvan Shankar Raja, speaking at an event, expressed his excitement about the project but remained tight-lipped about any details. He simply shared his enthusiasm for the music and assured fans that everything was progressing well.
In this movie, newcomer Meenaatchi Sathre will make her acting debut alongside Vijay. The cast also includes Prabhu Deva, Prasanth, Sneha, and Azmal in pivotal roles. There’s speculation that the Vijay-Meenaatchi starrer might draw inspiration from Will Smith’s film “Gemini Man” (2019).
Vijay’s last appearance was in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s “Leo,” where he starred alongside Trisha Krishnan and Sanjay Dutt.
