Hardik Pandya Ruled Out of World Cup 2023, Prasidh Krishna to Replace Him

Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya won’t be able to play in the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 because he hurt his ankle during a game against Bangladesh. He missed all the following matches, and some news reports suggested he might recover in time for the important knockout rounds.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Prasidh Krishna will replace Pandya in the team. This change was approved by the World Cup Technical Committee on Saturday.

With the World Cup Committee’s approval, Krishna can now be considered for the important match against South Africa on Sunday. Krishna, a right-arm fast bowler, has taken 33 wickets in his 19 ODI games. He’ll be competing with other fast bowlers like Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah for a spot in India’s pace bowling lineup.

To make any changes to the 15-player squad in the World Cup, the tournament’s Technical Committee needs to give their approval. Only after this approval can the new player be officially included in the squad.

The committee consists of six members, including ICC General Manager Wasim Khan, ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley, BCCI Acting CEO Hemang Amin, BCCI General Manager Operations Gaurav Saxena, and independent representatives Russel Arnold and Simon Doull.
