If you haven’t done the PAN Aadhar Link before the deadline, then you have to pay the fee of Rs.1000 before sending the Aadhar PAN link request. The last date of Aadhaar to PAN link will be June 30, 2023. If you miss this deadline, your PAN card won’t work starting from July 1, 2023.
Paying the Penalty Fee of Rs.1000
The following steps need to be followed to pay the penalty if you haven’t linked your PAN with Aadhaar by 30th June 2023.
STEP 1) Go to the Income Tax e-Filing Portal.
STEP 2) Click on e-Pay Tax under the Quick Links.
STEP 3) Now enter the PAN Number in the “PAN/TAN” and “CONFIRM PAN/TAN” columns enter the mobile number in the “MOBILE” column and then click on the “CONTINUE” button.
STEP 4) We will receive an OTP with the Mobile Number we have entered. Verify the OTP and click on the “CONTINUE” button.
STEP 5) On this page, click on the “Proceed” button under the Income Tax Menu.
STEP 6) Here select the Assessment Year as “2022-23”, the Type of Payment(Minor Head) as “Other Receipts (500), the Sub-type of Payment as “Fee for delay in linking PAN with Aadhaar and then click on “Continue” button.
STEP 7) The Penalty Amount will be prefilled in the “Others” option. Click on the “Continue” button to make payment.
You can settle the late penalty on the Income Tax e-filing Portal using net banking, debit card, over-the-counter, NEFT/RTGS, or the payment gateway. But, if you want to use the payment gateway option, make sure you have a bank account with one of the government-authorized banks. Once the payment is done, we can immediately link PAN with Aadhar.
