New Delhi, May 22, 2025 – India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s allegations of its involvement in a suicide bombing that targeted a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including three children. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs labeled the accusations as “baseless” and criticized Pakistan for attempting to divert attention from its internal issues.
The attack occurred on May 21, when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a bus carrying students to an army-run school. In addition to the fatalities, 53 people were injured, many of them children. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistani authorities have pointed fingers at India, alleging the use of proxy militant groups to carry out the bombing.
In response, India’s foreign ministry stated, “India rejects the baseless allegations made by Pakistan regarding Indian involvement with the incident in Khuzdar. In order to divert attention from its reputation as the global epicenter of terrorism and to hide its own gross failings, it has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for all its internal issues.”
The incident has further strained the already tense relations between the two nations, which recently experienced a flare-up following a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. Both countries had agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, but mutual accusations continue to hinder diplomatic efforts.
India has also taken diplomatic measures by declaring a Pakistani High Commission official persona non grata, citing activities inconsistent with diplomatic norms. Pakistan has reciprocated with similar actions.
As investigations into the Khuzdar attack continue, the international community watches closely, urging both nations to exercise restraint and engage in constructive dialogue to address their longstanding disputes.
