Actor Vinayakan, known for the movie Jailer, got arrested on Tuesday (Oct 24, 2023) in Kochi. He allegedly made a scene at the police station in an intoxicated state. Officials stated that the actor caused a disturbance at the Ernakulam Town North police station, where he had been called in by the police due to a dispute with his wife at his apartment.
“On Tuesday afternoon, Vinayakan called us about a problem at his apartment. When we arrived, we saw he was very drunk and he was rude to our officers, even the female ones. We told him not to do it again. His wife and family didn’t complain, so we left,” explained a police officer Prathapachandran in Kochi.
Five police officers, one of whom was a woman, from the Town police station, visited Vinayakan’s apartment near Stadium Link Road in the city at approximately 3.30 pm. This visit came about because the actor had contacted the police station himself, reporting a dispute with his wife related to financial issues.
“Around 7.30 pm that evening, he showed up at the police station, still very drunk, and caused a disturbance. Once again, he used offensive language towards our officers. As a result, we filed a case against him, and because he was intoxicated, we had him checked by a doctor. Afterward, we let him go on bail,” the Circle Inspector of Police Prathapachandran explained.

Vinayakan was charged with violations of sections 118(A) and 117(E) of the Kerala Police Act. The officer mentioned that the actor had previously created disturbances at the police station in a similar manner.
He was arrested for making trouble at the police station, a senior police officer said. The actor was then taken to a nearby hospital for the required medical examination, the officer said.
Later, the police released him on bail following the proper procedures. Meanwhile, as he left the hospital with the police after his medical examination, Vinayakan told reporters that he was unaware of the reasons for his arrest.
When questioned about the cause of his arrest, the actor said, “I came here to file a complaint. Please ask the police why they brought me to the hospital.”
A police officer, who was with the actor at the hospital, informed the media that he was arrested for causing a disturbance at the police station while intoxicated.
The official also said that earlier on that day, police were called to Vinayakan’s apartment by the actor to resolve some issues with his wife.
