J&K Encounter: 3–4 Terrorists Trapped in Kishtwar After Security Operation

Srinagar: A joint operation by security forces led to an encounter in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir early Thursday, with at least 3 to 4 terrorists reportedly trapped in the area.

The encounter follows a series of intensified counter-terror operations in the region, particularly in South Kashmir, after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed.

According to sources, Thursday’s operation was intelligence-based and involved a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, local police, and paramilitary forces. The situation remains tense, with intermittent gunfire reported from the encounter site.

This development comes just a week after six terrorists were gunned down during separate operations in the Keller area of Shopian and Nadar area of Tral in Pulwama district.

In recent weeks, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have stepped up efforts to dismantle terror infrastructure. This includes targeted raids, arrests, and even the demolition of properties belonging to active or neutralized terrorists.

Security forces are continuing the cordon and search operation in Kishtwar. More updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
