Marriage Broker Fatally Stabbed Over Controversial Match in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, May 23 — A shocking incident unfolded in Kumarswamy Layout, Dakshina Kannada, where a 50-year-old marriage broker was brutally stabbed to death by a disgruntled relative. The incident also left his two sons injured as they attempted to intervene.

The deceased, Suleman, had been working as a marriage mediator in the local community. Police reports confirm that he was attacked by Mohammed, a relative who held a long-standing grudge against him.

According to investigating officers, Mohammed was furious that Suleman had arranged his daughter’s marriage with a man she did not approve of. The daughter reportedly faced difficulties after the marriage, which Mohammed blamed entirely on Suleman. The resentment had been building for months before it erupted into violence.

On the day of the incident, a confrontation escalated outside Suleman’s residence. In a fit of rage, Mohammed allegedly stabbed Suleman in the neck. The victim collapsed on the spot and was declared dead before medical help arrived. Suleman’s two sons, who rushed to his defense, also suffered knife injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

The attacker fled the scene immediately after the assault. A manhunt has been launched by local police, and teams have been deployed to trace his whereabouts. Authorities have appealed to the public to share any information that might assist in the investigation.

The community remains shaken by the incident, which highlights the dangers of unresolved personal grudges turning violent. Local leaders have urged for peaceful conflict resolution and condemned the brutal attack.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further inquiries are ongoing.
