Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a fantastic video of India’s first bullet train terminal at Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad. The clip offers a modern architectural marvel designed for passenger comfort. The high-speed train will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, with technical and financial support from the Government of Japan.
The bullet train project is underway with technical and financial support from the Government of Japan. The aim is to connect the two major cities in approximately 2.07 hours, boasting a maximum design speed of 350 km per hour. The comprehensive project involves a double line spanning 508 kilometers, featuring tunnels and underwater sections.

The project is led by Shinkansen Technology, renowned for its reliability and safety with a track record of over 50 years. The government plans to work on six additional High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridors.

Mr. Vaishnaw earlier shared that the initial 50km of the first bullet train route in India, from Bilimora to Surat in Gujarat, will finish by August 2026. He highlighted notable progress in the larger Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, of which the Bilimora-Surat stretch is a component, with 100 km of viaducts and 230 km of pier work completed.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor has been steadily progressing since work started in November 2021. The foundation for the bullet train project was laid in Ahmedabad in September 2017.
The expected cost for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is around ₹1.08 lakh crore. The central government is committed to providing ₹10,000 crore, with Gujarat and Maharashtra contributing ₹5,000 crore each. The remaining funds will be obtained through a loan from Japan at a minimal interest rate of 0.1 percent.
