Indian Cricketer Mohammed Shami Nominated for Arjuna Award

The Indian Cricket Shami has been nominated for this year’s Arjuna Award by the BCCI. Shami is 33 years old and had a spectacular run in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Originally Shami’s name was not on the lists. after that, a special request was made to include him in the list.

Who is Mohammed Shami?

Mohammed Shami was born on September 3, 1990, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his education until 10th in Amroh Primary School. Devvrat Das, a former cricket secretary of Bengal Cricket Association sent Shami to Mohun Bagan Club. At that time, the former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly’s supervison, Shami worked hard and took 40 wickets in the Kolkata League. In the 2010, Ranji Trophy, Shami took three wickets against Assam. After that he got a chance to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy etc., After that Shami got a chance to play in the Indian Cricket Team.

IPL Career

Mohammed Shami made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2013. There he was contracted by Kolkata Knight Riders. After this, in the 2014,2015, and 2018 IPL, he played for Delhi Capitals. In 2020 and 2021, he played well and took 20 and 19 wickets respectively. In 2022 IPL, he played for Gujarat Titans. In that season Shami got 20 wickets in 16 matches and became the important player in winning the IPL title. Shami continued to play well and got 28 wickets in 17 matches in IPL 2023. The same way he played well in the testy matches as well.

ODIs

He was placed to perform ODI because of his extraordinary skills in 2013. On 6th January, he made his ODI debut against Pakistan. In 2014, Shami became the second-fastest Indian bowler to take 50 ODI wickets in the Asia Cup. In the 2015 World Cup, he played wonderfully for the Indian Team and got 17 wickets. Since then Shami has become a member of the Indian ODI team. He is a right-arm fast bowler, who bowls at a speed of 140 to 145 kilometers per hour.
