Dr. Mohan Yadav, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and legislature party leader, has been declared the next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The BJP has selected the CM on December 11. He is a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Ujjain district. Mohan Yadav was elected as an MLA for the first time in 2013. After that in 2018, he was again elected as an MLA from the Ujjain Dakshin seat.
Mohan Yadav has been elected as a cabinet minister in Shivraj Chouhan’s Government on July 02, 2020. Securing victory in the 2023 elections with an impressive margin of over 13,000 votes, Mohan Yadav has demonstrated his strong political prowess. Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, Mohan Yadav is the son of Poonamchand Yadav. His family includes his wife, Seema Yadav, and their two sons and a daughter. Mohan Yadav boasts an impressive academic background with degrees in BSC, LLB, MA, MBA, and a PhD. His commitment to education is further highlighted by his role as the Higher Education Minister in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government. Following his selection as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, the MLA from Ujjain South, expressed gratitude to both state and central leadership. Emphasizing his commitment, he pledged to fulfill all responsibilities associated with his new role. “I am a humble party worker, and I extend my thanks to all of you—both the state and central leadership. With your love and support, I will strive to fulfill my responsibilities,” stated Chief Minister-designate Mohan Yadav. Earlier in the day, BJP central observers, namely Manohar Lal Khattar, Dr K Laxman, and Asha Lakra, conducted a legislative party meeting in Madhya Pradesh. The state witnessed elections for 230 assembly seats in a single phase on November 17, with the vote counting taking place on December 3. Despite nearly two decades of incumbency, the BJP secured a decisive victory, clinching 163 seats, while the Congress trailed behind with 66 seats. Outgoing finance minister Jagdish Devda from Mandsaur and outgoing public relations minister Rajendra Shukla from Rewa were elected as deputy chief ministers. Former Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar assumed the role of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker.
Mohan Yadav comes from a group called OBC. The BJP chose him hoping to get support from the OBC community, which makes up more than half of the voters in Madhya Pradesh. Mohan Yadav is well-regarded for being honest, and he has the support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Additionally, he is active in the state’s wrestling associations.
