The Actor, Nagarjuna shares plans for Lakshadweep. He had plans for a vacation in the Maldives on January 17 after finishing Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga. However, he decided to cancel his trip due to comments about PM Narendra Modi made by some individuals from the Maldives. The actor described the situation as ‘not healthy’ and made it clear that his decision wasn’t influenced by fear during the ongoing trend of boycotts.
Nagarjuna responded to comments made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi while in the Maldives. The actor was supposed to go to the island country on January 17. In a YouTube episode with lyricists Chandrabose and MM Keeravaani, Nagarjuna shared, “I worked for 75 days straight on Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga without a break. Now, I’ve scrapped my tickets and plan to visit Lakshadweep next week. It’s not because of fear or anything, but I canceled the tickets because it’s not a healthy situation.
Nagarjuna also mentioned, “The things they said and the statements they made were not good. It’s not appropriate, especially since he is our Prime Minister, leading 1.5 billion people. They are now dealing with the consequences. Every action reacts.
Nagarjuna also spoke about the beauty of the Bangaram Islands in Lakshadweep, indicating his upcoming visit. He suggested MM Keeravani consider a trip to Lakshadweep as well.
The call for boycotting the Maldives started when some individuals from the Maldives made fun of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interest in visiting Indian islands. PM Modi had shared pictures of himself relaxing on the beach and snorkeling during his visit to the Lakshadweep Islands.
Recently, The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) declared a boycott of shoots in the Maldives. They urged their members and others in the industry to choose locations in India for work and holidays instead of the Maldives. Many other celebrities, who usually spend time in the Maldives, have also been promoting Lakshadweep recently.
