PM Modi Visits Karni Mata Temple in Rajasthan, Unveils ₹26,000 Crore Development Projects

Deshnok, Rajasthan – May 22, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to Rajasthan today, marking his first trip to the state following India’s recent military operations. The day commenced with a spiritual sojourn to the revered Karni Mata Temple in Deshnok, renowned for its unique tradition of housing thousands of sacred rats, considered manifestations of the goddess Karni Mata.

Following the temple visit, PM Modi inaugurated the newly redeveloped Deshnok Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This station, along with 102 others across 18 states and union territories, has been modernized to enhance passenger amenities while reflecting regional architectural heritage. The collective redevelopment effort amounts to an investment of over ₹1,100 crore.

In Palana village near Bikaner, the Prime Minister addressed a massive public gathering, unveiling and laying the foundation stones for multiple infrastructure projects totaling more than ₹26,000 crore. Key initiatives include:

  • Electrification of six major railway lines, covering over 1,000 km, and the commencement of the Churu–Sadulpur rail line electrification.
  • Inauguration of seven road projects and the laying of foundation stones for three vehicle underpasses, enhancing connectivity up to the Indo-Pak border.
  • Launch of solar power projects in Bikaner and Nawa, along with transmission systems under PowerGrid Sirohi and Mewar projects, reinforcing India’s commitment to renewable energy.
  • Inauguration of nursing colleges in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur, aimed at bolstering healthcare infrastructure.
  • Implementation of water infrastructure projects, including the Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project in Jhunjhunu and urban water supply restructuring in seven towns of Pali district under AMRUT 2.0.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on integrating cultural heritage with infrastructural development, aiming to propel Rajasthan towards a more connected and sustainable future.
