Priyanka Gandhi’s remark comes as a response to Modi’s ongoing attacks on the Congress party’s policies and alleged plans for wealth redistribution. She compared Modi’s criticism to the chatter of an uncle who talks foolishly in a corner during wedding ceremonies.
At an election rally in Valsad, Gujarat, Priyanka Gandhi made a statement about a hypothetical situation involving “Uncle Ji” spreading rumors that if Congress comes to power, it will take people’s jewelry and mangalsutras and give them to others.
Priyanka Gandhi suggested that upon hearing such claims, people would likely just laugh at the absurdity of the statement. Gandhi’s remarks were made in response to the ongoing attacks by political opponents, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been critical of the Congress party’s policies and alleged plans for wealth redistribution.
Priyanka Gandhi remarked that the Prime Minister is speaking such nonsense because he believes people will take his words seriously due to his position. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed his focus in attacks, shifting from topics like dynastic politics and corruption to criticizing the Congress’s alleged plan for wealth redistribution and inheritance tax.
In his election speeches, PM Modi has been claiming that the Congress party intends to take away gold ornaments, including mangalsutras, from women and redistribute them.
Priyanka Gandhi responded by questioning Prime Minister Modi’s claims, stating that he is now warning people that the Congress will use X-ray machines to enter their homes, search for and confiscate their ornaments and mangalsutras from safes, and then redistribute them to others. She questioned the feasibility of such actions, asking if he was making these statements out of nervousness.

She also addressed Modi’s denial of BJP leaders and candidates’ claims to change the Constitution, calling it a tactic of theirs. This was said during a public rally in Dharampur village of tribal-dominated Valsad district, in support of Congress candidate Anant Patel for the ST-reserved Valsad Lok Sabha seat.
