When considering the new updates regarding Corona, we think that there may be chances for lockdown and restrictions. In India, we need not worry about this now, but in many other countries, there may be the possibility for lockdown due to the new variant JN.1 Variant.
A new type of JN.1 sub-variant of coronavirus has been detected in many countries including India. In 2019, the coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China. The virus spread across the world over the next few months. This virus has left a huge impact in India as well. Now, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released important information regarding the JN.1 sub-variant.
According to Union Health Ministry data, India reported 142 new cases of Covid-19 with the active cases increased to 1,970. After the death of one person in Karnataka due to coronavirus, the death rate increased to 5,33,318. There may be many chances of coronavirus for people over 60+ age. So, the Karnataka government ordered to wear masks while going outside for old age people.
Meanwhile, recently in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a 79-year-old woman was diagnosed with JN.1 type of corona. This JN.1 Corona is the reason for the sudden increase in Corona in many countries of the world.
As per the records, a total of 45,003,830 cases and 533,309 deaths have been registered in India.
About JN.1 Variant Virus
The JN1 type corona is a sub-variant of the Omicron BA.2.86 type or Pirola. The virus was first detected in the United States last September. Then on December 15, 7 people in China were diagnosed with this novel coronavirus variant. Symptoms of this type of corona include mild fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, and headache.
So far, 21 new cases of the JN.1 sub-variant have been found in the country. 19 cases from Goa, 1 from Kerala and 1 from Maharashtra. Dr. V K Paul, a member of NITI Aayog, shared this information, and the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) is currently studying the genetic makeup of the virus.
A new version of the virus, called JN.1 (BA.2.86.1.1), appeared in late 2023. It comes from the BA.2.86 family (Pirola) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The BA.2.86 family was first discovered in August 2023 and is different from other Omicron XBB lineages like EG.5.1 and HK.3. This new variant, BA.2.86, has more than 30 changes in the spike protein, suggesting it may be good at avoiding the immune system. The information was shared by the ministry.
Increase in Kerala and Karnataka
In Kerala, the average daily cases is a minimum of 115 and there are a total of 1,749 new cases now. In Karnataka, the average daily cases is a minimum of 10.
In the Kodagu district of Karnataka, the corona test and treatment are heavily followed for the people. Even, for tiny symptoms, they give more importance to that, and corona checkups are deeply maintained.
