Thiruchendur Subramanya Swamy temple is visited by thousands of people from different districts daily. In this case, due to the heavy rains of the past three days, the devotees who came to have Swami darshan are unable to return to their native places. Rainwater can be seen accumulating everywhere. The ponds get filled and flooded the entire Thiruchendhur. As a result of this, transport has been cut off across Tiruchendur. The video footage of the flood water overflowing the wall built around the temple and entering the sea is being widely shared on social media.

Hence, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Trust made arrangements to accommodate the people who came for darshan. Some people have stayed in rented rooms. Everyone, from children to adults, struggled to eat and to stay because of the crowd. Now the Transport Department has arranged a free bus to take the devotees from different towns to their hometowns after three days. The flood water on Tiruchendur Nellai Road has now drained away after three long days. Due to this, the movement of people in the temple and its surrounding areas has gradually decreased. The number of devotees who take holy baths in the Tiruchendur sea has also decreased. When the Tsunami hit in December 2004, The temple was not damaged. Devotees are praying that Subramaniar will protect them from this flood too as he safeguarded them from the Tsunami.
