Smita Srivastava, a 46-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, India, has achieved a Guinness World Record for having the longest hair on a living person. She has not trimmed her hair since she was 14, and it was measured at an impressive length of 7 feet and 9 inches. Ms. Srivastava was inspired by the long hairstyles of Hindi actresses in the 1980s, and her dedication to maintaining her lengthy looks has earned her a spot in the record books.
According to Guinness World Records, Smita usually cleans her hair twice a week. The entire process, including washing, drying, untangling, and styling, takes up to three hours each time. She spends about 30-45 minutes washing it, then dries it with a towel before spending two hours using her hands to untangle it.
Smita shared, “In Indian culture, goddesses traditionally had very long hair. In our society, it is considered inauspicious to cut hair, so that is why women used to grow hair. Long hair enhances the beauty of women.”
