A 27-year-old woman from the US named Alexandra Afkami of California stole her Uber driver’s car, a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze to reach the Airport faster and was arrested. In the reports by Fox News, Alexandra stole the driver’s car and used his Credit card without the permission of the Uber driver. After that, she started to drive the car and reached the Austin Airport. There she gets arrested by the police.
The incident happened on December 10, 2023. The Uber driver took Alexandra from her hotel to the airport at 12.30 am. In between the time, Alexandra got frustrated that the driver was taking too long to reach the airport. So, she took the driver’s phone and threw it away on the road from the car’s window. While the driver went out to retrieve his phone, Ms. Alexandra got into the driver’s seat and drove the car leaving the Uber driver to stand on the road.
According to Police statements, Ms. Alexandra told the Uber driver that she was going to take the car and drop it off at Southwest Airlines. Alexandra also told the police that she felt like she was being kidnapped by the driver. But she didn’t call 911. Also, after reaching the airport, she spent $130 on various items using the driver’s card. Then police find the car abandoned in the terminal. Before Alexandra got into the flight, police arrested her.
Alexandra was charged with credit card abuse and unauthorized use of a mobile vehicle. Later on December 12, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Alexandra was released.
