Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter recently announced the upcoming launch of two new premium subscription tiers for the platform. While Musk didn’t provide extensive details, he revealed some key features of these subscription plans. These options include the “Premium+” tier, for users who prefer an ad-free experience and the “Basic” tier, which omits the blue checkmark feature.
The “Premium+” subscription, priced at $16 per month or Rs 1,300 per month, will provide users with the “largest reply boost.” This premium offering removes advertisements from both the ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ feeds on the platform, delivering an ad-free browsing experience.
The “Basic” subscription tier is priced at $3 per month or Rs 243.75 per month and does not feature the blue checkmark. It encompasses fundamental functionalities such as post-editing, the ability to share longer text and videos, along with “small reply boost.” Currently, both subscription plans are exclusively accessible via the web.
Since Elon Musk took control of the platform in October 2022, there have been significant changes. These changes led to a reduction in ad presence on the platform, affecting its revenue. Musk attributed this decline in revenue to activist pressure on advertisers.
For users in India, X Premium offers two subscription options. On the desktop app, you can opt for an annual plan priced at Rs 6,800 or a monthly plan for Rs 650. If you’re using the X mobile app, the annual X Premium subscription is available for Rs 9,400, while the monthly plan can be purchased for Rs 900.
These subscription plans come with a range of features, such as prioritized rankings in conversations and searches, text formatting tools for posts, the ability to post longer videos and upload videos in 1080p quality, post-editing capabilities, the option to create bookmark folders, and early access to new platform features.
