Haryana: Six Dead in 2 Days After Consuming Suspected Spurious Liquid

In the past two days in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district, six individuals have tragically lost their lives, and the police suspect that this is due to the consumption of tainted alcohol. The local authorities have reported this sad incident on Wednesday.

The investigation into these deaths is still ongoing, and the police have taken some individuals into custody for questioning. However, the precise cause of these fatalities remains unknown.

A Yamunanagar police officer, Ganga Ram Punia, disclosed that they received information from a hospital on Wednesday afternoon regarding the death of one person. This death was suspected to be linked to tainted alcohol. The exact cause of the fatality can only be determined following a post-mortem examination. Nonetheless, the police initiated an investigation based on the information received and began inquiring about the situation in nearby villages.

During their inquiry, the police discovered that three individuals from two villages in the district were cremated on Tuesday, and two more met the same fate on Wednesday. These five cases are also being treated as suspected incidents of poisoning from tainted alcohol by the police due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Suspicious Tainted alcohol consumption

In the cases of the five individuals who were cremated without notifying the police, post-mortem examinations could not be conducted, which complicates the investigation. When asked about the source of the suspected illicit liquor, Punia stated that they are currently verifying the details, and the investigation is ongoing. Furthermore, he mentioned that they have detained some suspects for questioning.

The deceased individuals span different age groups and are believed to have consumed the tainted alcohol on Tuesday night. Five of them reportedly passed away shortly after consumption, while one person died at the hospital on Wednesday. Moreover, it is reported that two additional people are currently under medical care in different healthcare facilities.

Another police official from the district confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in connection with this matter. As investigations continue, the community is left mourning the loss of these six lives, while authorities work tirelessly to determine the exact cause of these tragic deaths.
