After India gained independence, every year since 1950, January 26 has been celebrated as India’s National Republic Day. India Republic Day is observed on the day the Constitution of India came into force. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, hoisted the tricolor flag in the capital, Delhi, and inaugurated the first Republic Day celebrations.
Democracy is a system in which the people elect their desired leaders through elections. Believing that democracy is the essential foundation for the better development of a country, Dr. P. R. Ambedkar played a major role in writing the Constitution of India.
On January 24, 1950, the Permanent Constitution was signed in Hindi and English with the agreement of 308 Members of Parliament. Just two days later, 17 years before independence, the Cabinet, led by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, chose to celebrate Liberation Day (Purna Swaraj) established by Mahatma Gandhi on January 26 as the day when democracy blossomed. Republic Day Celebration
Republic Day Speech for Kids: During the Republic Day celebrations, grand parades of the three armies will be held on the Raj Path in the presence of the President in the capital Delhi. This will be followed by a parade of decorated floats on behalf of all the states with traditional arts of their respective states.
The parade will feature various adventures to uphold the bravery of the three armies and to proclaim the bravery of the soldiers. The head of government (prime minister or chancellor) of the other country, will participate as the chief guest in the ceremony. Every year on Republic Day, awards, commendations, and medals are given to those who have rendered excellent service and bravery.
A special day is dedicated to honoring the heroes who protected our country from foreign rulers. All of us work towards enjoying freedom on Indian soil. This day is celebrated in schools, colleges, and offices nationwide by singing the national anthem, raising the flag, and sharing sweets. Even with a population of over 1.3 billion people, every Indian takes pride in being part of the nation, despite differences in caste, religion, and language. The Indian flag is decorated with flowers and hoisted on a tall pole. During the ceremony, the flag rope is pulled, and the tricolor flag is unfurled, creating excitement for everyone.
