Ekadasi Vratham is considered one of the most important Vratham of Hindus. A total of 24 or 25 Ekadasi Vrathams are observed in a year with 2 Ekadasi Vrathams in each month. It is believed by people that if you fast on Ekadasi, all your sins will be removed and you will get salvation. But all the people who are believing could not able to fast each month when it falls. Therefore, it is believed that those who cannot fast during all the Ekadasi of the year will get rid of their sins and attain Moksha if they stay in the Vaikunda Ekadasi which falls in the month of Margazhi dated 23/12/2023.

2023 Vaikuntha Ekadasi Fasting

Vaikuntha Ekadashi falls on Dhanur Solar Month of the Hindu Calendar. The Dhanur month also known as Dhanurmasa is called “Margazhi” in Tamil language. The Vaikuntha Ekadashi also known as “Mukkoti Ekadashi” for the year 2023 falls on December 23. It is believed that the Vaikuntha Dwaram or the Lord’s inner sanctum will be opened. People who fast on this day will attain salvation by going to heaven. Sometimes, Ekadashi fasting is for two consecutive days. People with families should fast on the first day. The second day is for Sanyasis, widows, and those seeking Moksha. If Smartha is advised to fast on the second day, it aligns with Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting. The devotees who want the love and affection of Lord Vishnu are suggested to fast on both Ekadashi days.
