What does the PAN Card stand for?

A PAN card, or Permanent Account Number card, is a unique identification card issued by the Indian government for individuals and entities, serving as a key document for financial transactions and tax-related purposes.

Documents Needed for PAN Card Application

First of all, it is necessary to check the documents required to apply. Because if we apply with the wrong documents then it becomes difficult to change later. Email address is very important in this. If the PAN number applied by us is approved, a soft copy will be sent to our email address through a message. Then the original PAN card will be sent by post.

Apply for PAN Card Online

You can apply for a PAN card online through the NSDL or the UTIITSL websites. The Government of India authorizes these websites to issue PAN cards and make changes or corrections on behalf of the Income Tax Department.

Step 1: Go to the NSDL website.

Step 2: Choose the application type whether it’s for :

  • New PAN – Form 49A for Indian citizens or Form 49AA for NRIs.
  • Changes or corrections – Existing PAN Data / Reprint of PAN card.

Step 3: Select your category, such as an individual or association of persons, a body of individuals, etc.,  from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Fill in essential details like your Name, Date of Birth, Email, and Mobile number carefully.

  • Enter the appropriate title (Shri, Smt, or Kumari).
  • Input Last name / Surname, First name, and Middle name (if applicable).
Note: Provide As per Aadhaar.
  • Enter your DOB or incorporation/formation date in this (DD/MM/YY) format.
  • An active Email address and Mobile number should be provided.

Step 5: Place a tick mark on the guidelines and proceed to submit your application after entering the CAPTCHA code.

Step 6: After submitting, a Token Number is generated, and then follow the instructions on the next page. Note this Token Number. This may be used for future reference.

Step 7: Click “Continue with PAN Application Form”.

Step 8: When you click, a new page will open with three options for your application process: (i) Submit digitally through e-KYC and e-sign (Paperless), (ii) Submit scanned images through e-Sign, and (iii) Forward application documents physically. Select “(ii) Submit scanned images through e-Sign”.

Step 9: Indicate whether you need a physical PAN Card and enter the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.

Step 10: Enter personal, contact, Details Of Parents, and other details.

  • Details of Parents – Applicable only for Individual Applicants
  • Personal Details – Enter Source of Income, Address for communication, Residence Address, Office Address, Telephone and Email ID Address.
  • Also, choose the Representative Assessee – Yes or No.
Note: You only need a representative assessee for applicants who are under 18 years old.

Step 11: Input your area code and other specifies, which can be found in the tab below.

Step 12: Complete the document submission and declaration.

  • You can submit your Aadhaar as a document for proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of date of birth.
  • Complete the declaration process.
  • Upload your Photo (.jpeg, 50 Kb, 3.5×2.5 cms).
  • Upload your Signature (.jpeg, 50 Kb, 2×4.5 cms).
  • Upload Supporting Documents.
  • Click “Submit”.

Step 13: Enter the first 8 digits of your Aadhaar card and review the form. Click “Proceed” if no changes are needed.

Step 14: Make the payment through demand draft or net banking/debit/credit card. A payment receipt will be generated upon successful payment. Click “Continue”.

Step 15: Authenticate with Aadhaar, tick the declaration, and select “Authenticate”.

Step 16: Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 17: Click “Continue with e-Sign” and then enter a 12-digit Aadhaar number. Another OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 18: Enter the OTP and then submit your application.

Step 19: Click “Continue with e-Sign” to receive the Acknowledgement slip in PDF format. Your date of birth will serve as the password in DDMMYYYY format.

UTIITSL PAN Card apply

Step 1: Go to the UTIITSL website.

Step 2: Select “PAN Card for Indian Citizen / NRI” present under PAN Services.

Step 3: Select the choice “Apply for New PAN Card (Form 49A)”

Step 4: You can opt for either the “Physical Mode” or the  “Digital Mode”.

  • In Physical Mode, where you’ll submit a printed and signed application form at the nearest UTIISL office.
  • In Digital Mode, you can sign the form using Dsc Mode or Aadhaar-based eSignature, and there’s no need to submit a physical copy.
Note: Better to choose “Physical Mode”.

  • After selecting the mode. Provide “Individual” for the Status of the Applicant.
  • Select “Both physical PAN Card and e-PAN” for PAN CARD Mode.

Step 5: A Reference Number is created. Please make a note of this Reference Number, as it will be useful for future reference until your application number is generated.

Step 6: Complete your personal and mandatory details.

  • Enter the title (Shri, Smt, or Kumari).
  • Enter Last name / Surname, First name, and Middle name (if applicable).
Note: Provide As per Aadhaar.
  • Select Gender
  • Enter DOB (DD/MM/YYYY), Address for Communication, Resident State, Office State, and Applicant Aadhaar details.

Step 7: Click “Next”.

Step 8: Complete the “Document Details”.

Note: You have the option to use your Aadhaar as a document to verify your identity, address, and date of birth.

Step 9: Provide Contact Details and parent Details and Click “Next step”.

Step 10: Enter Address details, and source of income and Click “Next step”.

Step 11: Enter Other details – AO code, Representative Assessee address details, and Click “Next step”.

Note: A representative assessee is only required for applicants below 18 years of age.

Step 12: No need to upload documents. This facility is applicable only when a PAN application process through Digital (DSC or eSign) mode.

Step 13: Verify the accuracy of the information given and click “Submit”.

Step 14: After verification, make the online payment BillDesk or PayU India using options like net banking, debit card, credit card, cash card, etc.

Step 15: Upon successful payment, you’ll receive a payment confirmation. You can save or print it.

Step 16: Attach two passport-sized photographs (3.5 x 2.5 cm) to the printed form and sign it as required.

Step 17: Include copies of your identity, address, and date of birth proof documents with the filled application form. Submit it online or send it to the nearest UTIITSL office for processing and PAN card issuance.

Apply for a Free Instant e-PAN Card through the Income Tax e-Filling portal

Step 1: Go to the e-Filling portal homepage and click on “Instant e-PAN” in the Quick Links Section.

Step 2: e-PAN page –> Get New e-PAN (select).

Step 3: Give a 12-digit Aadhaar number –> Confirm the agreement –> Click “Generate Aadhaar OTP”.

Step 4: Enter the 6-digit OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number –> Agree to the consent terms on the OTP validation page –> click “Continue”.

Step 5: On the Validate Aadhaar Details page, accept the terms and click “Continue”.

Step 6: After successful submission, you’ll see a confirmation message on a screen with an Acknowledgement Number. Keep this number for future reference, and you’ll also receive a confirmation message on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
